a little about maak maak.

For as long as I can remember, I've loved being creative. Over the past 16 years, I've explored a little bit of everything, creating pieces that didn't always seem to fit neatly into one box, let alone under one brand.

Everything I've made, however, has had one thing in common – it's always been about creating things that carry meaning. I believe that our ability to create is a gift from God, the ultimate Creator. And every time I create, I get to partner with Him, using my imagination and the gifts He's placed inside me. And that's really where maak maak was born.

So, what's up with the name?

"Maak" is the Afrikaans word for "make" or "create". So, simply translated, maak maak means "create create" or "make make". But to me, it means something a little deeper.

He is the Maker above, and I am the maker below. Creating alongside Him, bringing little pieces of heaven to earth.

So, maak maak isn't really about one particular product or creative pursuit. It's a home for all the things I feel inspired to make, each with its own story, purpose and meaning.

My hope is that whatever finds its way from my hands into yours will bring hope, joy and beauty into your everyday life. And ultimately, remind you of who He has called you to be and just how deeply loved you are.
